Abu Dhabi, UAE – 05 March 2019: Khazna Data Center (Khazna), the only dedicated commercial wholesale data center provider in the UAE, has announced it has received the Tier III Certification of Design Documents (TCDD) from Uptime Institute for its data centers expansion project in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The award recognizes that Khazna meets the highest standards for infrastructure functionality and availability and validates that the system design of the facility is consistent with Uptime objectives, in line with international best practice.
Khazna currently has two UAE facilities in Meydan, Dubai and Masdar City, Abu Dhabi. Each data center facility comprises six independent Performance Optimized Datacenters (PODs). Based on the latest innovative design, both facilities are set to deliver 25 megawatts, allowing customers access to an ecosystem of wholesale, co-location and multi-tenant data center services which are central to the growth of the digital economy across the Emirates.
Hassan Al Naqbi, Chief Executive Officer at Khazna, said: “The Tier III Certification of Design further strengthens our clients’ trust in our services and is a marker of our quest for internally-benchmarked excellence. This achievement is a crucial milestone in establishing ourselves as a partner of choice in the wholesale data center space, while reinforcing our commitment to providing first rate and dynamic solutions to all our partners.”
In 2018, Uptime Institute Experts and analysts carried out a detailed review of Khazna’s facility design documentation, capacity and engineering requirements and awarded Khazna with the TCDD for PODs 1, 2, and 3 for each facility. After another rigorous review of Khazna Data Center campus in January embracing the expansion project PODs 4, 5 and 6, the certification now covers PODs 1, 2, 3, as well as 4, 5, 6 for both facilities, certifying all Khazna’s data center PODs on a design level.
Uptime Institute is a global advisory firm focusing on the effectiveness and reliability of vital IT infrastructure for business corporations and has certified over 1500 leading data center facilities worldwide for design, construction, management, and operations against Tier Standards. Its aim is to ensure facilities meet their objectives prior to operations. The TCDD is awarded to data centers that successfully achieve the highest standard of design.
“Uptime Institute’s Tier Certification of Design clearly illustrates that Khazna sets high levels of quality for their data centers, as well as the way they conduct business. We are pleased to work with Khazna on the TCDD award and look forward to working with them as they move forward to achieve the natural progression of the Tier Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF),” said Mustapha Louni, managing director of Middle East and Africa, Uptime Institute.
Building on this latest milestone, Khazna aims to achieve the Tier Certification for Constructed Facilities (TCCF) to further support customers, partners and the industry in delivering world-class data center services in the Emirates. With the Government’s economic strategy and Abu Dhabi’s Ghadan 21 stimulus package focusing specifically on forging a technology ecosystem, this critical infrastructure is an integral part of the digital economy.
